About Entebbe International Airport

Entebbe International Airport (airport code EBB) is Uganda’s only international gateway, built on a green peninsula that reaches into Lake Victoria about 40 kilometres south of the capital, Kampala. Recently expanded, it runs from a single passenger terminal and is the hub of Uganda Airlines, with Kenya Airways, RwandAir, Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines, Emirates, Ethiopian Airlines and flydubai also serving the airport.

Most travellers here are heading on to Uganda’s national parks and the gorilla-trekking regions in the southwest, often transferring onto a small domestic aircraft. That makes Entebbe a brief, busy stop between two longer trips, which is exactly when things get left behind.

Two Offices, Depending on Where You Lost Your Property

Entebbe splits its lost property between two points, and going to the right one saves time. Items lost somewhere in the airport, at a cafe, a gate or a seating area, are handled by the Aviation Security Office on the Departures level. Baggage that did not arrive, or property left in the reclaim area, is dealt with by the Baggage Tracing Office at the Arrivals baggage claim on the ground floor. If you are unsure, start with the office that matches where you last had the item.

In person, go to whichever of the two offices fits your situation. Once you have left the airport, you can still open a report by phone or through our platform; describe where in the airport you were, the approximate time and what the item looks like.

If your item stayed on the plane, neither office can retrieve it; that falls to the airline. Give your carrier the flight number and seat so the crew can check the cabin.

A Note for Onward Travellers

Because so many passengers connect straight onto a light aircraft for the parks, the gap between landing and the next departure can be short. If you are transferring, it is worth a quick check of your seat and hand luggage before you leave the terminal, and if something is missing, reporting it at once rather than after you reach the bush, where getting back in touch is far harder.

Getting Your Item Back

Once the item has been logged, bring identification that matches the report to collect it, or send someone with written authorisation and both sets of documents. If you have already travelled on, ask the office whether the item can be held for your return flight or forwarded to you.
