About the Rome Metro ATAC

The Rome Metro, operated by ATAC (Azienda per la Mobilita), is the underground rapid transit system serving the Italian capital. The network consists of three lines: Line A, Line B and Line C. Line A runs from Battistini in the west to Anagnina in the southeast, passing through central stops including Termini, Spagna and Ottaviano near the Vatican. Line B connects Laurentina in the south to Jonio and Rebibbia in the north. Line C is the newest line, gradually expanding through the city’s southeast districts.

ATAC manages all public transport in Rome including buses, trams, and the metro network. The central lost property office for all ATAC services, including the metro, is located at Circonvallazione Ostiense 191 in the Ostiense district of Rome. This is the main point of contact for passengers who have left items on any ATAC-operated service.

What Should You Do If You’ve Lost Something on the Rome Metro ?

If you realise you have left an item on the Rome Metro, report it as soon as possible by contacting the ATAC lost property office. Items retrieved by staff are transferred to the central office at Circonvallazione Ostiense. The sooner you report, the better your chances of recovering your item before it is mixed in with a large backlog.

ATAC retains lost property for a limited period before unclaimed items are processed for disposal or donation. Visitors to Rome should act promptly, particularly if they are leaving the city soon after the loss.

You can also submit a report through our platform, so that our team can contact and follow up with the lost property office(s) on your behalf.
