About Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport
Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) is the primary commercial airport serving the Twin Cities metropolitan area of Minneapolis and Saint Paul, Minnesota. Located between the two cities approximately 15 kilometers from each downtown, the airport handles over 37 million passengers annually and serves as the main hub for Delta Air Lines‘ northern operations. Delta connects MSP to an extensive domestic network and international destinations in Europe, Japan, Mexico, and Canada. Other carriers including American Airlines, United, Southwest, Spirit, and Sun Country also operate from MSP.
The airport features two main terminals the Lindbergh Terminal (Terminal 1) and the Humphrey Terminal (Terminal 2) connected by a free tram service. Terminal 1 handles most of the major airline traffic, while Terminal 2 is used by low-cost and charter carriers including Sun Country and occasional international charter flights. MSP is a busy year-round airport, serving both business travellers and leisure passengers heading to Minnesota’s lakes, the Boundary Waters, and ski areas in the north, as well as a significant convention and sporting events calendar.
What Should You Do If You’ve Lost Something at MSP ?
If you notice the loss while still in the terminal, go to the information desk or speak to airport staff immediately. Note which terminal you were in Terminal 1 (Lindbergh) or Terminal 2 (Humphrey) as this helps staff search the correct area.
MSP’s lost property service operates daily, seven days a week, with morning and early afternoon hours. This means weekend losses can be followed up the same day.
How to Report a Lost Item at Minneapolis Airport
Contact the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport lost property office during opening hours. Provide the terminal, the specific gate or area, the date and time, your flight details, and a full description of the item. You can also submit a report through our platform, so our team can transfer your report to the appropriate offices for you.
Items Lost at Security or on an Aircraft
For items left at a TSA security checkpoint, contact TSA directly in addition to the airport lost property office. TSA handles checkpoint found property through a separate system. For items left on board a Delta, American, United, Southwest, or Sun Country flight, contact the airline’s baggage services directly.
Common areas at MSP where passengers lose items include security lanes in both terminals, the tram connecting the terminals, gate areas throughout Concourses A through G, restaurants and retail shops, baggage claim carousels, and the ground transportation area.
