Lost something on a Copa Airlines flight ? This page explains how to contact Copa’s baggage services team and what steps to take to report your loss and recover your item.

About Copa Airlines
Copa Airlines (CM) is the flag carrier of Panama, founded in 1947 and headquartered in Panama City. The airline operates its main hub at Tocumen International Airport, which it has developed into one of the most connected aviation hubs in Latin America, often referred to as the Hub of the Americas. From Panama City, Copa flies to over 80 destinations across North America, South America, Central America, and the Caribbean, making it a key player in regional connectivity. Copa Airlines is a member of the Star Alliance.
Copa’s extensive network across the Americas means that passengers frequently connect through Panama City between intercontinental routes. The airline operates a modern fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft and serves both leisure and business travellers. With high passenger volumes moving through the Tocumen hub every day, personal items are regularly left on board or at check-in counters, making prompt reporting essential.
What to Do If You’ve Lost Something with Copa Airlines
Contact Copa Airlines Baggage Services as soon as you notice the loss. Provide your flight number, date, seat number, and a detailed description of the item. If your loss was discovered after connecting to another flight, report to both Copa and the connecting carrier, as the item may have been found on either aircraft.
You can also submit a report through our platform, so that our team can contact and follow up with the lost property office(s) on your behalf.
Items Lost on Board vs. at the Airport
Items left in the aircraft cabin should be reported directly to Copa Airlines. Items lost in the terminal at Tocumen International Airport or at another departure airport should be reported to that airport’s lost property office. If you are unsure where the item was left, Copa’s baggage team can help identify which team should be contacted based on your itinerary.
Tips to Efficiently Report a Lost Item
- Report before leaving the airport if possible, as Copa’s ground staff at the gate may still have access to the aircraft
- Provide your full itinerary, as items may have been found at a connecting point rather than your final destination
- Describe the item in detail, including brand, colour, contents of bags, and any personalisation
- For items lost at Tocumen, also check with the airport’s information desk
- Keep your boarding pass and baggage tags as reference documents when following up

Can You Recover Your Item After Your Flight ?
Copa Airlines can be reached by phone during weekday business hours. If your flight has already departed from Panama City, the baggage team will coordinate with staff at the relevant airport to search for the item. Acting within the first 24 to 48 hours of the loss gives the best chance of recovery.
