About Volaris

Volaris (Y4) is Mexico’s leading ultra-low-cost carrier, founded in 2005 and headquartered in Mexico City. The airline operates an extensive domestic network across Mexico alongside international routes to the United States, Central America, and the Caribbean. Volaris flies from its main bases at Mexico City’s Felipe Angeles International Airport and Guadalajara’s Miguel Hidalgo International Airport, as well as from several other Mexican cities. The airline operates a fleet of Airbus A319, A320, and A321 aircraft.

As one of Mexico’s busiest airlines with high-frequency services on popular domestic and cross-border routes, Volaris carries tens of millions of passengers each year. Items such as phones, chargers, headphones, and small bags are commonly left behind in seat pockets or overhead compartments, particularly on short domestic flights where passengers disembark quickly.

What to Do If You’ve Lost Something with Volaris

Contact Volaris baggage services as soon as you notice the loss. Have your booking folio, flight number, travel date, and seat number ready. For items lost at the airport itself, Volaris’s ground staff at the airport can also be contacted directly if you are still on the premises.

You can also submit a report through our platform, so that our team can contact and follow up with the lost property office(s) on your behalf.

Items Lost on Board vs. at the Airport

Items left in the Volaris aircraft cabin should be reported to Volaris directly. Items lost in the terminal at Felipe Angeles International Airport or at any other Mexican airport should be reported to that airport’s own lost property service. Volaris ground staff can help direct you to the right office if you are still at the airport.

Tips to Efficiently Report a Lost Item

  • Report as quickly as possible, as Volaris aircraft on domestic routes often have short turnaround times between flights
  • Have your booking folio (reservation code) ready as it helps trace your specific flight and seat
  • Describe the item in detail, including brand, colour, model, and any contents if it was a bag
  • Mention the exact seat and the overhead bin section if you stored something above your row
  • For losses at the airport, ask at the information desk as items found in the terminal are sometimes held there

Acting within the first 24 to 48 hours is the most important factor in successful recovery.
