About Kansas City International Airport

Kansas City International Airport (airport code MCI) serves Kansas City, Missouri, about 25 kilometres northwest of downtown. In 2023 it opened a new single terminal, replacing the old three-terminal layout and bringing all airlines under one roof. The largest carrier is Southwest Airlines, alongside United Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and other domestic operators.

There is no rail link, so most travellers arrive by car, taxi or RideKC bus, and the airport is a short drive from downtown.

How the New Terminal Handles Lost Property

The single terminal that opened in 2023 changed how lost property is organised, and it helps to know the split before you call. Items lost inside the terminal, at a gate, a shop or security, go to the airport’s terminal lost and found. Things left in the car parks or on the parking buses, and items from the rental car area, are handled separately, with their own contacts and hours. So the first question to settle is not which of three terminals you used, as it once was, but whether the item went missing inside the building or out on the ground side.
